Type 2 Diabetes Food List – Recommended and Forbidden Foods For Diabetics
There is nothing in this world that has the impact that food does. At the heart of every celebration lays food. First dates typically revolve around food. Mothers are always trying to make their kids all their food. We need it to stay alive and enjoy it so much that millions of us are overweight, and millions of us now have to watch we eat pretty carefully because we have developed type 2 diabetes.
Doctors, dietitians, and other health care professionals will tell you that there are two main things that make for a healthy body – eating right and getting enough exercise. If you are like me, and like I was when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, you probably want easy answers. You wish you could just get a big magic list labeled “Type 2 Diabetes Food List – Forbidden and Recommended Foods for Diabetics.” Well, for the most part, there is no easy magic bullet that will keep your diabetes in check, and it is definitely important to eat a variety of healthy foods every day and get exercise every day as well.
That being said, we can have a bit of a guide that can serve as a kind of a list of forbidden and recommended foods for diabetics. That list, really, is the diabetic food pyramid put out by the American Diabetes Association. The pyramid divides foods into six categories. At the top – as close to forbidden as possible – are the fats, oils, and sweets. Just like the regular ADA food pyramid, the top area is to be limited. That means that cakes, cookies, doughnuts, and so on are on the forbidden list.
Down on the bottom two levels are grains, vegetables, and fruits. Just like the regular food pyramid, the diabetes food pyramid puts the “best” foods at the bottom. That means that grains, fruits, and vegetables are the recommended part of the list.

Does Propecia Benefit Everyone?
Men experience hair loss for a variety of reasons. Many men are embarrassed about going bald especially if the hair loss is not uniform or appears patchy. As long as there is not an underlying medical reason for the hair loss, it is possible to stop further balding and possibly reverse it in some men. Propecia is a popular medication used to treat hair loss in men. Men around the world have benefited from this drug. But it is not a cure-all for every male that experiences hair loss.
Men Who Should Take Hair Loss Medication
This hair loss treatment is particularly effective in men who experience male-pattern baldness. Characterized by hair loss above the temple to the top of the head, this type of baldness is the most common type of hair loss in men. It is a genetic disorder that contributes to thinning of the hair in men as young as 17.
Men can experience hair loss for non-genetic reasons as well. The most common of these reasons is extreme treatment of the hair. This includes keeping your hair in tight braids, cornrows or dreadlocks. Known at traction alopecia, the type of hair loss may respond to hair loss treatments.
Men Who Should Avoid Hair Loss Medication
Men diagnosed with alopecia areata of any type may not be able to use this particular hair loss treatment. It is also not a suitable treatment for men who have hair loss due to chemotherapy. If you are one of these men, you will need to wait until your hair grows back before your doctor can assess whether or not you are an appropriate candidate for this drug.
Hair loss that results as a side effect of a serious illness or use of certain medications may not be treated with this drug. You may even be experiencing hair loss because of the shampoo or conditioner you use. Dying your hair can damage your hair, causing it to break. You may believe this is hair loss when it is not.
If you believe propecia will benefit you, it is recommended you begin treatment as soon as you identify signs of hair loss. The sooner you begin treatment, the more effective it will be in preventing further hair loss. There is even the potential that some of your hair will grow back. Men who use propecia can successfully treat their hair loss.
Understanding the New Food Pyramid
You may have grown up learning about the food pyramid. The food pyramid is the dietary recommendations made by the United States Department of Agriculture. The food pyramid helps people to more easily understand their nutritional needs. The food pyramid has changed in order to accommodate the latest nutritional information.
The recommended daily allowance of each food group depends on your age gender and amount of physical activity. The most important thing to keep in mind about the food pyramid is to eat from the recommended food groups daily for a balanced and healthy diet.
Grains- Grains include any foods that are made using rice, wheat, oats, cornmeal or barley. The most popular types of grains include cereal, bread and pasta. There are two main types of grains – whole grains and refined grains. Whole grains use the entire kernel while refined grains have been processed. Whole grains contain much more fiber, vitamins and iron than refined grains do. Refined grains often add vitamins and minerals back into the product during processing. White bread and white rice are both types of refined grains.
Women typically should eat about 3 ounces of grains per day while men should eat about 4 ounces. At least half of your daily intake of grains should come from whole grains.
Vegetables- Vegetables consist of cooked, raw, frozen, canned, dehydrated or juice. There are 5 categories of vegetables including dark green, orange, dry beans and peas, starchy vegetables and other vegetables. Daily intake of vegetables should include about 2 ½ cups for women and 3 cups for men.
Fruits- Fruits may be raw, cooked or juiced or may be frozen or canned. Keep in mind that fruits eaten in desserts such as pies include other ingredients that must be accounted for. When choosing fruit juice the juice should be made of 100% fruit. Women should eat about 1-½ cups per day while men should eat about 2 cups of fruits daily.
Milk- The milk category includes milk and milk products including cheese and yogurt as well as milk-based products. Some common milk products include ice cream, pudding and frozen yogurt. The recommended daily intake of milk products is about 3 cups for women or men.
Meat and Beans- The meat and beans category includes all types of meat, poultry and fish as well as dry beans, nuts and eggs. Choose lean cuts of meat to avoid excess cholesterol. Fish and nuts provide healthy oils that are necessary to the diet. Women should eat about 5 ounces of meat/beans daily while men should eat about 6 ounces.
Oils- The oil category includes oils such as vegetable oil. Most oils are used in the cooking process while some come directly from eating foods such as fish, nuts, olives and avocados. While the body needs some oils on a daily basis you should limit your oil intake to only polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats since these do not raise the cholesterol level. Women should get about 5 teaspoons of oils daily while men should get about 6 teaspoons.
Discretionary Calories- The food pyramid allows you to have some daily discretionary calories. This lets you have some extra calories to eat what you choose. The number of daily calories that you can use for discretionary purposes depends mainly on your daily caloric intake and your activity level. In general most people can eat about 200 discretionary calories daily.

Breast Cancer: Explained in Detail
Introduction
Breast Cancer is a form of cancer that occurs in the breast tissue. Although the breast is made up of similar tissues in both males and females, breast cancer occurs mostly in females.
Causes
Like other cancers, breast cancer is an uncontrollable growth of breast cells, and is caused due to the mutation of certain genes present in your breast cells. This mutation can either be genetically inherited, i.e. it might have come from your parents, or it happened during changes in your body, like aging or due to life in general. Breast Cancer can also occur due to hormonal changes in the body, like during menopause.
Types of Breast Cancer
Breast Cancers can be divided into four types based on the location they occur and whether it is a local one or not.
1. Ductal Carcinoma in Situ, or DCIS
2. Lobular Carcinoma in situ or LCIS
3. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma or IDC
4. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma or ILC
Breast Cancer normally occurs either in the milk duct (Ductal), or in the lobules (Lobular) or glands that make milk. Both can either be “in situ”, meaning it remains where it started and does not spread, or it may be “invasive”, meaning it spreads into the surrounding tissues. Carcinoma is a word used for any cancer that begins in the skins or tissues covering internal organs.
Early Detection
There are no ways to prevent breast cancer. However, breast cancer can be treated effectively if it is detected in an early stage. Self Breast Examination for lumps and unusual changes should be carried out each month, preferably at the same time each month to minimize effects of menstruation. A clinical breast examination should be done once every year from ages 29 – 39, and once every year from the age of 40.
Diagnosis
Primary diagnosis is done using mammography, an x-ray of the breast. If breast cancer is suspected or diagnosed, this is followed by MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and PET Scans.
Treatment
The main form of treatment used for Breast Cancer is surgery. Depending on the size of the tumour, it can be lumpectomy, also known as breast conserving surgery, where only the tumour is removed, or mastectomy, where the entire breast is removed. Both forms of surgery are usually followed by radiotherapy, which is a form of treatment by exposure to radiation, to stop the cancer from spreading. Another major form of treatment is chemotherapy, where treatment is done through various forms of drugs. These drugs interfere with the growth of cancer cells, and thus help curing cancer. Breast cancer can also be treated using hormone therapy, using chemicals to stop activities of certain hormones. Hormone therapy can only be used if the cancer cells are responsive to hormones, and have varied side effects, ranging from vaginal dryness and weak bones to infertility. Even after effective removal of Breast Cancer, patients should be in constant touch with the physician to make sure that the cancer does not return.

Is Levitra Right for You?
With several different erectile dysfunction medications available, it is difficult to know which option is best for you. Levitra is a leading ED drug that effectively treats impotence in men. It continues to be a strong contender among the different ED treatments. But how do you know if it is right for you?
Who Should Not Take It
Men who have heart problems and take nitrates should not use this medication. Nitrates, such as nitroglycerin, in combination with an ED drug can cause your blood pressure to suddenly drop which can be dangerous and even life-threatening. Another type of nitrate can be found in poppers. Men who engage in recreational drug use should not take this ED medication.
Because this medication is only intended to treat erectile dysfunction, you should not take it if you have no ED symptoms. Using this drug when you do not have ED can cause extremely high blood pressure, chest paints, and fainting. Keep in mind that it will not actually enhance your sexual desire. So if you have a low libido, you should consult your doctor about other treatment options.
If you already take an ED medication, do not take Levitra as well. Men who currently are receiving another type of treatment for their erectile dysfunction should never take this drug without first talking to their doctor. Men told to refrain from any sexual activity, especially intercourse, should not take this medication because it can increase your risk for heart attack or stroke.
Who Should Take It
It is recommended that only men who plan to have sex within a few hours of taking the medication should use this ED drug. It begins to work within one hour and is effective for up to four hours. Men who want to regain their sexual confidence and have minimal health problems are ideal candidates for this drug.
Men who take alpha-blockers can still use this medication but their dosage may have to be reduced. As long as you are willing to provide a complete medical history to your doctor, including all medications you are taking, you can take levitra to treat your erectile dysfunction.
With the exception of heart problems, men who have other medical conditions can safely take this medication. The dosage of Levitra may be adjusted to reduce potential interaction with other medications or to minimize possible side effects.
